Role overview

Woolworths Group is seeking an Availability Operations Specialist in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand. This full-time, on-site position supports the smooth running of a defined operational stream and helps ensure store routines are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.

Working pattern

The roster includes Tuesday 6:00 AM to 2:30 AM, Wednesday 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Thursday 6:00 AM to 2:30 AM, Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and Saturday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the flow of work for an assigned operational stream and keep processes moving efficiently.
• Work closely with the Team Leader and the wider support team to maintain productivity and coordination.
• Make sure tasks are completed without interruption and in line with all agreed procedures and standards.
• Carry out regular operational tasks accurately and on time, including inward goods handling, price accuracy checks, inventory-related work, and stocktakes.
• Take the lead within the function by guiding the team, ensuring work quality, and supporting day-to-day execution.
• Provide on-the-job coaching and training to both new and existing team members.
• Promote a safe and healthy workplace by following safety processes and reporting hazards promptly.
• Escalate process issues quickly when resolution is needed and step in as Acting Store Manager during scheduled shifts when required.
• Participate in collaboration initiatives that strengthen communication and teamwork across the store.

• Strong capability in process discipline and a willingness to keep learning and improving.
• Experience building productive working relationships across teams and stakeholders.
• Confidence in leading people through delegation, monitoring progress, coaching, feedback, and motivation.
• Solid understanding of compliance requirements within the function, along with clear and effective communication skills.
• Behaviour and decision-making that reflect the company’s values.
• Availability to work four weekend shifts each month and at least one evening per week.
