Role Overview
The Yukon Housing Corporation is hiring a Building Maintenance Worker for a term assignment that runs through March 31, 2028. The position is scheduled for 75 hours every two weeks, and candidates who are seeking a temporary assignment may also be considered.

In this role, you will help improve the lives of people in greatest need by keeping their homes in good repair and supporting day-to-day building upkeep.
Workplace Details
This is an on-site role based in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada.
Key Duties
The job centers on maintaining and repairing residential homes, with an emphasis on timely service for clients across multiple properties.
- Carry out minor plumbing repairs and routine maintenance work.
- Perform carpentry tasks related to the upkeep, repair, and renovation of single-family and multi-family residences.
- Handle a large number of maintenance requests across several properties and manage priorities effectively.
- Use Microsoft Word and Excel for related administrative or tracking tasks.
- Provide responsive service to clients, including those from diverse and vulnerable groups.
Qualification Criteria
Applicants should clearly show in their resume how they meet the required qualifications, since shortlisting will rely only on the information provided there. Equivalent education, training, and/or experience will also be accepted.
- Journeyperson certification in carpentry, plumbing, or electrical trades, or active progress toward that certification.
- Recent hands-on experience with minor plumbing repairs and maintenance.
- Recent carpentry experience involving repair, maintenance, and renovation of single-family and multi-family residential buildings.
- Experience managing a heavy volume of maintenance work across multiple locations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Strong interpersonal skills and a client-service mindset when supporting a diverse and vulnerable client base.
- Ability to operate independently as well as collaborate effectively with a team.
- Comfort working under pressure and organizing daily tasks by priority.
Conditions of Employment
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- A current vulnerable sector security clearance is required.
Work Schedule
- The successful candidate must be available for rotational after-hours and weekend on-call shifts.
