About the organisation

MacKillop Family Services is looking for a Case Work Coordinator to join its Metro South Region team in Wollongong. The role sits within a tight-knit group of professionals who value mutual support, resilience, teamwork and a caring, light-hearted approach to work.

What’s on offer

  • SCHADS Level 7 pay range of $60.27 to $62.79 per hour, with the exact rate depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Salary packaging benefits of up to $18,550 each year, helping reduce taxable income.
  • Access to free, confidential support covering mental, physical, financial and social wellbeing.
  • Work within a Sanctuary Model organisation, backed by an evidence-informed framework focused on safety, healing and coping with stress and trauma.
  • Career pathways for First Nations employees through the Warrungarli Strategy, with support for recruitment, retention and professional development.
  • Opportunity to connect with MacKillop’s Aboriginal Staff Network, Ngindaay Guumaldanha.

Role summary

The Case Work Coordinator provides day-to-day leadership for casework operations and helps ensure the team works in line with MacKillop policies, procedures, out-of-home care standards, applicable laws and Department of Communities and Justice contractual obligations. The role focuses on delivering high-quality casework that supports better outcomes for children, young people and their families.

Key accountabilities

The coordinator works alongside caseworkers to strengthen specialist practice across restoration, guardianship and adoption, while also helping improve service delivery in these areas.

  • Build and maintain productive relationships with external stakeholders to meet DCJ PSP Rules and Guidelines requirements.
  • Develop collaborative links with specialist and mainstream services that can improve outcomes for children, young people and families.
  • Support the embedding of the Sanctuary Model across systems and everyday practice so it aligns with MacKillop values.

Selection criteria

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work or an equivalent qualification, or substantial experience in a relevant setting combined with qualifications in Youth Work, Welfare or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in child protection, child welfare practice or a similar area.
  • Working knowledge of community service organisations and both local and state government services, with the ability to build networks across them.
  • Ability to work effectively with peers, staff and stakeholders in a collaborative way, while also using initiative and sound judgement when working independently.

Mandatory requirements

  • A current and valid driver’s licence.
  • A valid Working with Children Check.
  • A current NDIS Workers Screening Check for risk-assessed or client-facing roles; MacKillop can support successful candidates with the application.
  • A satisfactory criminal history check, which will be funded by MacKillop.

Additional information

MacKillop welcomes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates and recognises the value of First Nations knowledge, perspectives and cultural contributions. The organisation is committed to creating a culturally safe, culturally competent and welcoming environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families and communities.
