About Mursion
Mursion is an award-winning upskilling platform that helps organizations strengthen interpersonal intelligence and build more effective teams. Using multimodal AI and a practice-focused model, the company delivers interactive simulations that are grounded in behavioral science and psychology. Its product portfolio includes human-led simulations, AI-based simulations, coaching, and advanced analytics designed to drive measurable skill growth.
Backed by investors with deep experience in the future of work and edtech, Mursion is a well-funded Series B startup. It is the largest simulation company in its space, with more than 800,000 simulations completed and over 200,000 users each year, along with a steadily expanding global presence.
Role Overview
Mursion is hiring a Content Designer to build immersive simulations that give learners meaningful opportunities to practice and demonstrate essential behavioral skills. This role spans the full design process, from clarifying learning goals and audience needs to creating simulation materials that are realistic, adaptable, and impactful for participants and customers.
This is a fully remote, full-time, salaried role reporting to the Senior Research Scientist.
What You'll Do
- Create simulation ideas, story arcs, characters, interaction patterns, and scenario frameworks that mirror real workplace situations and support skill practice.
- Investigate and distill information about the audience, industry, role, setting, interpersonal dynamics, critical skills, and common failure points so the simulations stay authentic and useful.
- Write materials for participants, clients, and internal teams that prepare learners, explain the purpose of each simulation, and support consistent delivery.
- Develop scoring rubrics and assessment notes that enable fair evaluation, practical feedback, and useful customer insights.
- Run design discussions with clients and subject matter experts to collect context, define requirements, verify realism, and refine the simulation throughout development.
- Partner with AI tools throughout the production process to shape an authentic and effective simulation experience, owning both design and production responsibilities.
- Prepare Simulation Specialists and/or Coaches to understand the simulation structure, character behavior, scenario purpose, and live delivery expectations.
- Use feedback, performance data, testing results, and stakeholder input to improve and refresh simulations over time.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is curious, disciplined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with minimal direction. You should be able to learn unfamiliar domains quickly, ask smart questions, work through ambiguity, and continuously improve your output while following established processes and guidance.
This role suits someone who enjoys researching human behavior, industries, roles, audiences, and performance challenges, and who can translate that understanding into credible, flexible simulations. Because Mursion operates as a remote, distributed startup, you also need to work independently, take ownership, adapt as tools and workflows evolve, and maintain a high standard of realism and quality. Strong collaboration matters too: the team values people who contribute ideas, seek input, and help improve shared work.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience designing, developing, researching, or writing complex human-centered content, experiences, or scenarios.
- Backgrounds that may be relevant include learning experience design, behavioral skills development, content strategy, conversational design, applied research, facilitation, simulation design, assessment design, screenwriting, character-led narrative work, scripted improv, or similar fields.
- Strong writing, editing, and synthesis ability, with a talent for turning complex context into clear, realistic, and purposeful materials for different audiences.
- Experience in writing-related disciplines such as content design, instructional design, learning experience design, journalism, screenwriting, creative writing, narrative design, communications, technical writing, or equivalent areas.
- Excellent attention to detail when reviewing requirements, feedback, and participant- or client-facing content for accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
- Comfort handling ambiguity and complexity, including the ability to identify what needs clarification and move work ahead without a full step-by-step plan.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and executive presence, with the confidence to build trust, lead conversations with clients and subject matter experts, and represent the simulation design approach professionally.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage several projects or workstreams in a fast-paced remote startup environment.
- Interest in technology and practical experience using AI tools for research, drafting, analysis, or creative work.
- Preferred but not required: study or experience in psychology, behavioral science, anthropology, communication, organizational behavior, learning sciences, assessment, research methods, creative writing, theater/improv, or related areas.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay is based on experience. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan, paid holidays, and unlimited PTO.
