Customs Data Entry Agent

Job Overview

This role is responsible for making sure customs entries are handled in full compliance with all applicable clearance rules and regulatory obligations. The position requires a strong grasp of departmental KPIs and network operations, along with the ability to move shipments through customs quickly, since customers expect immediate action and express turnaround. Success in this role depends on precision, speed, and the ability to organise and prioritise tasks within tight time limits. The ideal candidate is a self-directed learner, highly attentive to detail, and a strong collaborator.

Main Responsibilities

• Submit all customs pre-alerts within the required time frame.
• When filing customs entries, verify the accuracy of HSCODE, country of origin, number of pieces, weight, value, and currency.
• Ensure all clearances processed through Mirsal 2 / B2G are filed at line-item level.
• For consignments that need special handling, update the appropriate preset ACA status or Bond Reason.
• If a cleared shipment still needs regulatory approval, route it to the relevant supervisor for inspection endorsement.
• Carry out gateway clearance steps in line with the GSOP manual and maintain strict adherence to all regulatory rules.
• Keep records properly organised and make sure reports and files are updated accurately and on time.
• Stay continuously informed about changes in customs regulations and current trends in the shipping and logistics sector.
• Work with gateway applications such as DUBAITRADE, DCE, DCC, ACA, CIA, GIA, GDI, and related systems.

Working Conditions

The department runs around the clock, every day of the year. The role involves day and night shifts, and public holidays are generally treated as regular working days. In such cases, staff will receive either a compensatory day off or overtime payment. The gateway function operates across multiple locations, including JAFZ, DAFZ, SFZ, and HFZ, and employees must be prepared to work from any of these sites when needed. Team members are also expected to arrange their own transportation to these locations.

Education / Experience / Qualification Requirements

• Good knowledge of UAE customs laws, procedures, and working practices.
• Practical experience using Microsoft Office tools.
• Preferably a graduate or someone with an equivalent qualification.
