Database Administrator

Role overview

This contract role is for a Database Administrator working remotely. The position offers compensation of $25 to $70 per hour and is expected to require 10 to 40 hours of work each week.

What you will do

• Review database performance and improve efficiency across large MySQL and PostgreSQL systems.
• Work closely with developers to build, deploy, and support dependable database architecture.
• Create, validate, and oversee backup and recovery workflows to protect essential business data.
• Keep an eye on database environments and quickly address issues that may slow performance.
• Coordinate with teams across the business so database solutions continue to match changing operational needs.
• Maintain clear documentation covering configurations, procedures, and recommended practices to support continuity and transparency.

Experience and technical expectations

• Strong practical experience administering MySQL and PostgreSQL in production environments.
• Solid history of diagnosing issues, tuning performance, and optimizing databases.
• Deep working knowledge of SQL for querying, scripting, and performance improvement.
• Hands-on familiarity with backup, restore, and disaster recovery methods.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly in writing and verbally.
