Design and Creative Intern

Role overview

SPACS ART is seeking a motivated and imaginative intern to help with exhibitions, events, social media, and visual content creation. This position suits someone curious about contemporary art, cultural programming, exhibition spaces, design, and visual storytelling. The intern will collaborate closely with the director and receive practical exposure to gallery operations, exhibition outreach, event production, artist branding, and digital content planning.

Responsibilities

• Support exhibitions, openings, workshops, events, and related cultural programming.
• Help manage on-site event flow, welcome guests, document activities, and assist with routine gallery tasks.
• Create marketing and social content for Instagram, Reels, Stories, newsletters, and the website.
• Record photo and video coverage of exhibitions, events, artworks, artists, and behind-the-scenes activity.
• Edit short-form videos and contribute to promotional graphic design work.
• Organize artist files, artwork visuals, captions, biographies, press materials, and exhibition details.
• Track social media performance and suggest ways to improve audience interaction.
• Assist with general administrative work as required.

Requirements

• Background or degree in art or design-related studies.
• Genuine interest in contemporary art, design, culture, exhibitions, and creative communities.
• Strong visual judgment and careful attention to detail.
• Basic ability in photography and video editing.
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar software.
• Familiarity with Instagram, Reels, and current short-form content formats.
• Comfort using AI-based creative tools such as ChatGPT, Canva AI, Midjourney, Runway, or comparable platforms.
• Good communication and organizational abilities.
• Responsible attitude, initiative, and eagerness to learn.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Mandarin Chinese is an added advantage.
• Willingness to occasionally work evenings or weekends for events is preferred.

What you'll learn

This role offers practical exposure to how a contemporary art venue plans exhibitions, supports artists, runs events, builds community, and communicates across digital channels. The intern will contribute to SPACS’ programming and content strategy while learning about gallery operations, artist relations, social media marketing, and creative production.
