Launched in 2020 as a greenfield initiative of the Tata Group, the company focuses on delivering integrated solutions across a trusted electronics and semiconductor value chain to customers worldwide.
Role Overview
This position is focused on direct material sourcing for electronics manufacturing, with strong involvement in costing, vendor development, negotiation, localization, and supply base management. The role supports procurement decisions through technical review, commercial comparison, and ongoing supplier performance management.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves working across electronics components and sourcing processes to ensure cost-effective and reliable procurement.
- Build strong knowledge of costing and global sourcing for electronics parts, including passive and active components, ICs, PCB, and PCB assembly processes.
- Review inputs such as the bill of materials, PCB Gerber files, mechanical drawings, cable assembly drawings, label specifications, and consumable datasheets to identify required components.
- Issue enquiries, compare quotations, and carry out cost analysis and negotiations with vendors approved on technical and commercial grounds.
- Coordinate with suppliers to obtain accurate quotes and prepare price comparisons for vendor selection based on cost, quality, and capability.
- Evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing and terms and conditions, and support final procurement closure.
- Control sourcing costs through structured analysis and negotiation with suppliers.
- Identify, develop, and qualify alternate vendors to support localization, reduce lead times, and improve quality consistency and market competition.
- Source replacements for obsolete parts and identify local alternatives for imported items to raise the share of locally sourced materials.
- Set up vendor-managed inventory programs for local and imported suppliers to reduce inventory and manage days of stock effectively.
- Improve the value-to-price balance while maintaining or enhancing quality and service levels.
- Continuously verify lead time, minimum order quantity, and fixed lot multiplier details to prevent excess inventory and obsolete stock.
- Explore new supplier options and build long-term sourcing partnerships.
- Monitor supplier performance on an ongoing basis to ensure service, cost, delivery, and quality expectations are met.
Essential Attributes
The role calls for strong system database management, experience in NPI handling, and a focus on cost savings and localization.
Qualifications
A Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or any discipline is mandatory. An MBA with a background in material management, logistics management, or imports and exports management will be considered an added advantage.
Experience
Applicants should have 3 to 8 years of relevant experience.
