Role overview

The Director of Enterprise Strategy is an important member of Mount Sinai Health System’s strategy organization. In this position, you will partner with key stakeholders to shape and advance the health system’s mission, vision, and long-range strategic priorities. The role focuses on both discrete strategic projects and ongoing enterprise-level analysis that supports the broader “One Mount Sinai” strategy across clinical, research, and educational areas. What you will do

  • Help build and improve system-wide strategy plans that remain aligned with Mount Sinai’s mission, values, and organizational goals across clinical, research, and educational work.
  • Bring together partners from finance, clinical care, research, education, and operations to surface and assess strategic opportunities, new market trends, and potential partnerships.
  • Perform deep-dive analysis such as environmental reviews, market studies, competitor assessments, and scenario planning to support strategy choices.
  • Use market intelligence, analytics, demand forecasting, and scenario models to strengthen recommendations.
  • Turn complex findings into concise, persuasive recommendations and executive-ready narratives.
  • Share recommendations with leaders and stakeholders to support decisions on major multi-year investments.
  • Work with relevant teams to convert strategic priorities into practical initiatives with measurable success metrics.
  • Act as a strategic thought partner to the enterprise strategy team.
  • Prepare executive reports, board-level materials, and presentations that show strategic progress and results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred, such as an MBA, MHA, MPH, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience, with most of that time spent in enterprise strategy, strategic planning, or a closely related area within large, complex healthcare systems or academic medical centers.
  • Proven ability to lead market assessments, competitive analyses, and business case development in healthcare.
  • Experience in or exposure to academic health systems is preferred.
  • Strong analytical ability, financial understanding, and problem-solving skills, especially in market assessment and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proficiency in SQL or Python is required.
  • Knowledge of healthcare claims data is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong stakeholder engagement skills.

Compensation
