Where you'll work

المسمى الوظيفي

About the role

As a Dispenser in a Boots store, you will be an important part of the pharmacy team, working alongside the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues to help deliver safe and efficient pharmacy and healthcare services.

Based in the store’s healthcare area, you will build strong connections with patients by listening carefully, understanding what they need, and supporting them with clear, practical guidance. Your day-to-day work may include welcoming customers, preparing and supplying prescriptions, making sure medicines are sold safely, and sharing healthcare knowledge so people can make informed decisions about their wellbeing.

This position is strictly store-based in the UK. Applications from remote candidates will not be considered. Candidates outside the UK will only move forward if they can provide relevant UK qualifications and evidence of the right to work in the UK.

Compensation

The pay for this role starts at £13.92 per hour and can rise to £16.64 per hour in selected London locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense prescriptions while making sure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals in the store to support the delivery and day-to-day management of pharmacy services.
  • Offer patients advice and care related to medicines, and escalate questions to the Pharmacist when needed.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
  • Stay current with new in-store innovations and follow operational processes accurately.
  • Help patients manage repeat prescriptions in a reliable way and support effective medicine use to improve adherence and reduce waste.

Technology and development

You will work with changing in-store technologies and newer systems designed to improve traditional dispensing processes, strengthen patient safety, and give you more time to focus on patients.

Ongoing training will be provided to build your healthcare knowledge, along with career development opportunities such as training to become a Pharmacy Technician or progressing into the store leadership team.

Requirements

  • You must have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or be working toward it while having completed the first year of an MPharm degree.
  • You need a current and valid right to work in the UK.
  • This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.

Preferred experience

  • Prior experience in a community pharmacy would be an advantage.

Benefits

  • Discretionary Christmas gift payment.
  • Generous employee discount.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption leave pay, plus a gift card for colleagues expecting or adopting a child.
  • Flexible benefits scheme.
  • Access to free 24/7 counselling and support through TELUS Health as part of the Employee Assistance Programme.

Boots provides a wider range of rewards and benefits, with flexibility designed to suit different needs.

Application process

Although this role is advertised as full-time, part-time and job-share arrangements may be discussed during the application process.
