Electrical Technician - Maintenance

Job purpose

This role focuses on carrying out electrical installation, repair, upkeep, and fault-finding work on machinery, equipment, and fixtures so they run reliably with the least possible downtime, while following EHS requirements and supporting continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to electrical failures across plant assets, including LV and MV motors, LV switchboards, MCCs, plant lighting, transformers, UPS systems, VFDs, breakers, soft starters, and related equipment.
• Carry out preventive, predictive, and planned maintenance tasks with little supervision.
• Spot abnormalities, report them promptly, and complete repairs or replacements before reassembling and testing equipment; leave the work area tidy after completion.
• Evaluate assigned jobs technically, choose the right tools and equipment, and carry out the work efficiently.
• Diagnose electrical faults accurately and troubleshoot plant and equipment breakdowns with minimal or no direction.
• Use the computerized maintenance system (SAP) to request spare parts from the warehouse and keep accurate records of all maintenance activities.
• Make sure all maintenance work follows safety procedures and operational requirements of the plant.
• Track recurring breakdowns and propose appropriate modifications to prevent repeat issues.
• Share plant and equipment knowledge with newly hired electricians, craft trainees, and contractors to support their maintenance work.
• Contribute to better EHS performance and equipment reliability by taking part in 5S, Business Excellence, and safety initiatives.
• Support other departments when needed for equipment repair and troubleshooting.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor or superior.

Qualifications and skills

The position requires a diploma in a relevant discipline and completion of PEC Craft Training. The candidate should have at least 3 years of relevant heavy-industry experience after the diploma. No post-training experience is required after completing PEC Training.

Additional requirements

• Strong command of written and spoken English.
• Familiarity with maintenance tools and good IT skills.
• Practical experience in installation and troubleshooting work.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, manuals, and instructions.

Work focus

The role is based in Doha, Qatar, and is an on-site full-time position within maintenance operations.
