Engineering Technician

Role overview

This position sits within engineering and facilities at a luxury hospitality property in Ummahat Islands 2-3, Red Sea, Saudi Arabia. The role is a full-time, non-management position focused on keeping guest-facing and back-of-house systems operating safely, reliably, and to brand standards.

What you will do

You will respond to maintenance calls from guests and customers, often resolving issues with minimal supervision. Day-to-day work includes preventive upkeep of tools and equipment, inspection of machinery, replacement of parts, and coordination with other shifts so ongoing issues are clearly handed over.

The job calls for strong hands-on technical ability across several disciplines, including HVAC, refrigeration, electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical equipment, carpentry/finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building systems. You will also be expected to read blueprints and electrical schematics, troubleshoot MEP systems, and complete advanced repairs on property systems and equipment.

Typical tasks may include pump and motor replacement, drain clearing, toilet plunging, lamp replacement, air-conditioning and HVAC repairs, switch and outlet replacement, vacuum and internet device troubleshooting, and TV programming. You will also use lockout/tagout procedures before maintenance work, maintain maintenance stock, and request materials when needed.

In addition, the role includes engineer-on-duty duties such as readings and rounds, using engineering software for preventive maintenance and energy management, and supporting or mentoring other engineers when required.

Standards and working expectations

You will be required to follow company, safety, and security procedures; report hazards, incidents, injuries, and maintenance issues; complete assigned safety training and certifications; and store flammable materials correctly. Professional grooming, confidentiality, guest recognition, teamwork, clear communication, and respect for quality standards are all essential parts of the role.

The role also requires physical capability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place items up to 50 pounds without assistance, with heavier items handled with support. Work may involve stairs, ramps, ladders, overhead reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, and use of computers to access work-related information.

Education, experience, and certifications

A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with a vocational or technical background. Candidates should bring extensive training and experience in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration work, inventory and parts requisition, and interior/exterior surface preparation and painting. A minimum of 2 years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience is expected.

There is no supervisory experience requirement. A valid driver’s license is needed, along with a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification and any applicable state or federal certification/licensing requirements.
