Role overview
This position focuses on shaping, developing, and delivering innovative designs for composite products. The role combines concept creation, feasibility assessment, CAD-based design, material selection, and ongoing awareness of new technologies and market trends to improve product and process outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead concept generation, design development, and execution for composite product solutions.
- Create design approaches, assess technical feasibility, and use CAD tools to support product development.
- Select suitable materials and continuously look for ways to improve performance, quality, and efficiency.
- Work toward organizational objectives across Pultrusion, Filament Winding, Mass Transport, Hand Lamination, Centrifugal Casting, SMC, and related processes.
- Develop new product ideas and support structured new product development for items such as underground and above-ground tanks, pipes, FGD systems, pultrusion profiles, metro and railway mass transport solutions, FRP applications in passenger and commercial vehicles, centrifugal casting products, and SMC products for Reliance Composite Solutions.
- Collaborate with external customers and internal R&D and sales/marketing teams to assess opportunities and define project scope.
- Interpret tender needs and applicable international standards to ensure proper project execution.
- Own the design work and guide the team through execution activities.
- Prepare project plans, schedules, deliverables, and quality plans, and share regular progress updates with leadership.
- Develop technical innovations that can create measurable value for the organization.
- Solve complex engineering and design challenges in a cost-effective way while working with designers, engineers, and manufacturing teams.
- Build finite element models for complex structures and apply FEA, optimization, and statistical methods to support design decisions.
- Provide subject matter expertise in engineering design and analysis for application development.
- Identify the material data needed for engineering analysis and understand the capabilities, limitations, and use cases of solver material models.
- Prepare and present technical papers externally and maintain strong internal documentation of technical learning.
- Use Six Sigma methods during new product development to improve first-time-right outcomes and drive value-based projects.
- Work with customers and Reliance operations teams to strengthen engineering practices, communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Identify technology gaps and create improvement roadmaps.
- Promote quality standards and product stewardship within and outside the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, B.Des, or M.Des from a reputed university.
- 4 to 10 years of experience in design and new product development within polymer applications.
- Strong professional proficiency in Catia or SolidWorks for design and drafting.
- Hands-on experience with HyperMesh or Abaqus for finite element analysis.

This is a full-time, onsite role based in Vadodara, Gujarat, India.
Work scope
The role involves working across multiple composite manufacturing and engineering methods, including Pultrusion, Filament Winding, Mass Transport, Hand Lamination, Centrifugal Casting, and SMC. It also includes support for application development in sectors such as metro, railway, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, tanks, pipes, and FGD-related solutions.
Leadership and collaboration
The position requires close coordination with external customers, internal R&D teams, sales and marketing functions, and Reliance operations. The selected candidate is expected to guide the design team, drive cross-functional execution, and support leadership with periodic status reporting.
Technical focus
Core work includes design strategy, feasibility evaluation, CAD modeling, FEA, optimization, statistical analysis, material selection, and use of engineering data and solver material models to support robust product development.
Quality and innovation
The role emphasizes new technical innovation, six-sigma-driven development, quality improvement, product stewardship, and documentation of internal learning as well as external technical communication.
