Field Operator - Energy

Job purpose

The role is focused on keeping gas and steam turbines, HRSG units, potline rectifiers, connected equipment, and all utility services running smoothly and continuously within the assigned area. Work must be completed safely and efficiently, following directions from the Shift Supervisor or Main Control Room Operator.

Key accountabilities

• Operate all plant and equipment under your charge safely and efficiently.
• Carry out instructions quickly and accurately.
• Take routine readings at regular intervals and flag any abnormal values.
• Report equipment faults or unusual conditions to the supervisor or control room.
• Keep standby equipment ready for immediate use in an emergency.
• Support routine testing and recommissioning of plant after maintenance shutdowns.
• Follow safe work methods to protect both personal safety and plant integrity.
• Recognize hazards and take part actively in the reporting process.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards in the work area.
• Be thoroughly familiar with emergency procedures for equipment in the assigned area.
• Provide on-the-job training when required.
• Work continuously to build stronger competency levels.

Site-specific note

For the Jebel Ali site, the Operator Turbine & Boiler and Assistant Operator roles are limited to gas turbines, steam turbines, related plant equipment, and associated utility systems.

Qualifications and experience

A Higher Secondary School Certificate is required. The role expects at least 4 years of experience in a power station and 2 years of experience as a Desalination Operator (PG7) or comparable experience in a similar industry.

Skills required

The candidate should already have competencies in all areas except DCR operation. Strong English skills are needed to prepare and complete shift reports at an Intermediate 3 level or equivalent. The role also calls for communication ability, basic numeracy, understanding of single-line diagrams, IT proficiency, problem solving, planning and organizing, interpersonal effectiveness, and teamwork.
