Role overview

The institution is seeking a Librarian to oversee day-to-day library operations and ensure that students, faculty, staff, and visitors have smooth access to academic and reference resources. The position involves both collection management and user support within a campus environment in Chennai.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange and manage the library’s holdings, including print books, journals, magazines, and electronic resources.
• Create and update records by cataloguing and classifying library materials accurately.
• Support students, faculty members, and visitors in finding and using the information they need.
• Handle issue, renewal, and return transactions through the library management system.
• Keep membership, circulation, and stock records current and error-free.
• Draft and apply library policies, procedures, and operating guidelines.
• Encourage use of library services through reading initiatives, workshops, and related events.
• Suggest new purchases and additions based on academic requirements and user demand.
• Protect the condition of library resources through proper care and preservation practices.
• Track library activity and compile periodic usage reports.
• Work closely with teaching staff and administrators to support learning, academic work, and research needs.

Compensation

The role offers an annual salary in the range of INR 2,50,000 to INR 4,00,000.
