Maintenance Officer

Role overview

Churches of Christ in Queensland is hiring a dependable and compassionate Maintenance Officer for the Rockingham Aged Care Facility in Cardwell, Queensland. This permanent full-time position is focused on helping maintain a safe, pleasant, and homely environment for residents. The role contributes directly to residents’ comfort, dignity, wellbeing, and overall quality of life.

What you will do

• Handle day-to-day maintenance tasks and minor repair work across the facility.
• Look after outdoor spaces and gardens, including mowing, pruning, and general upkeep.
• Help implement and follow preventative maintenance plans.
• Support and coordinate visiting contractors while they are on site.
• Keep accurate maintenance logs and use asset management systems.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, tidy, and well-maintained environment.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate is practical, dependable, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to organise work, set priorities, and communicate clearly. Experience in maintenance, handyman work, or a similar hands-on position is preferred.

Essential requirements

• Ability to obtain, or already hold, a National Police Check.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Basic computer literacy, including Outlook and web browsing.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Right to work in Australia without sponsorship.

Preferred experience

• At least 12 months’ experience in maintenance or a comparable role.
• Understanding of Work Health and Safety requirements, or willingness to learn.
• Previous experience in aged care or a similar environment.

Employee benefits

This not-for-profit employer offers salary packaging of up to $18,549 per year, which may include $15,900 for everyday expenses and $2,649 for meals and entertainment. This can increase your net take-home pay.
