Merchandiser

Role overview

This position is with a locally owned and operated retail store that focuses on health, beauty, and everyday convenience services. The role is centered on keeping the customer experience front and center while supporting the store’s merchandising and operational standards.

Merchandising duties

• Keep backroom stock arranged properly and follow backroom inventory management procedures.
• Use PDT and MMS tools to complete day-to-day work.
• Handle exit strategy and product return tasks when assigned.
• Build strong knowledge of assigned inventory areas, product placement, and expiry tracking.
• Maintain store presentation standards, including overall image and in-store trend expectations.
• Set up product displays so they are customer-friendly and easy to shop.

Receiving duties

• Accept incoming merchandise in line with receiving policies and procedures.
• Keep the backroom tidy and organized using backroom best practices.
• Make sure receiving and return paperwork is completed correctly.
• Assist the Front Store Manager and Assistant Front Store Manager in maintaining quality and standards.

Customer service expectations

• Present a neat appearance that follows the uniform policy and dress code.
• Take the initiative to greet and help customers in the aisles.

General duties

• Follow all health and safety requirements.
• Follow all store standards consistently.
• Comply with loss prevention rules and procedures.
• Carry out other duties as needed.

Qualifications and working conditions

The role calls for sound judgment, planning, and decision-making skills, along with strong organization, efficiency, and attention to neatness. You should be comfortable adjusting to changing situations on the sales floor. If cash handling applies, accuracy and speed in processing customer orders are important. The job also requires some computer and cash register experience, strong record-keeping ability, detail orientation, independence, and self-motivation. Shifts may vary and can include evenings and weekends. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders.

Compensation and workplace information

The hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $20.85 per hour. Pay may be influenced by experience, knowledge, and the geographic area where the job is located.
