About the Company
The company operates a cross-border payments infrastructure built for businesses working across African markets. It runs a live OTC desk that provides liquidity on demand, foreign exchange, and settlement through both fiat and stablecoin rails. Its client base includes money transfer operators, payment service providers, OTC desks, corporates, and importers that need quick and dependable cross-border settlement. The business is registered with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business and is also registered as a Payment Service Provider with the Bank of Canada.
Role Overview
As an OTC Sales Trader, you will be responsible for bringing in institutional payment and FX flow across Africa. Your work will involve finding businesses with recurring demand for USD, USDT, USDC, and local African currencies, converting them into counterparties, quoting live markets through the pricing engine, completing transactions, and building durable trading relationships. You will manage the full commercial cycle, from sourcing opportunities and onboarding counterparties to pricing, execution, settlement coordination, and expanding repeat flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate deal flow by building relationships with businesses that regularly buy, sell, or settle in USD, USDT, USDC, and African currencies.
- Expand business across MTOs, PSPs, OTC desks, fintech companies, corporates, exporters, importers, and institutional crypto market participants.
- Drive outreach through cold prospecting, referrals, networking, and existing connections.
- Own the relationship from the first discussion through onboarding, the initial trade, and ongoing account growth.
- Increase wallet share by positioning the desk as the preferred liquidity partner.
- Provide live pricing using the company’s proprietary pricing tools.
- Price transactions across USD/GHS, USD/NGN, and stablecoin pairs.
- Take trades from indicative pricing to firm quote, execution, confirmation, and settlement.
- Coordinate settlement across banking channels and mobile money rails.
- Confirm funding before execution and escalate any trade that exceeds approved risk thresholds.
- Maintain strong spread discipline while still delivering competitive execution.
- Grow and manage relationships with OTC desks, liquidity providers, and institutional trading counterparties.
- Broaden the desk’s liquidity network to improve pricing, execution quality, and capacity.
- Collaborate with internal trading and operations teams to source liquidity when needed.
- Work within a regulated environment by ensuring onboarding and KYC are completed before trading.
- Follow compliance, AML, and operational procedures at all times.
- Represent the company professionally and accurately in all client interactions.
- Never sacrifice pricing discipline, settlement standards, or compliance for the sake of closing a deal.
Requirements
- Demonstrated background in selling institutional FX, cross-border payments, or stablecoin OTC liquidity.
- Established relationships with businesses that regularly transact in USD, stablecoins, or African currencies.
- Ability to win and develop business independently.
- Solid understanding of OTC market structure, bid/offer mechanics, spreads, execution windows, and liquidity.
- Strong commercial decision-making and negotiation ability.
- Persistent, self-driven, and comfortable building relationships over the long term.
- Experience in an OTC desk, digital asset trading firm, treasury desk, or FX brokerage is a strong advantage.
- Existing relationships with OTC brokers, liquidity providers, or institutional stablecoin users are a plus.
- Good knowledge of Ghanaian and/or Nigerian FX markets, banking systems, mobile money, and settlement rails is beneficial.
- Prior experience handling high-value cross-border payment transactions is advantageous.
Success Measures
Performance will be assessed across two main periods. In the first 90 days, success will be measured by counterparties onboarded, first trades completed, and a qualified pipeline that can be shown clearly. Over 6 to 12 months, the expectation is to build a portfolio of active counterparties that generate reliable recurring flow, increase net desk revenue through disciplined spread capture, maintain a strong execution and settlement record, and steadily grow wallet share within existing accounts.
Compensation
The package includes a competitive base salary together with uncapped commission tied to net desk revenue. The structure is designed to reward long-term client relationships and recurring trading activity, with support provided during onboarding while you build your book.
