Role overview
This position is for a pharmacist working on-site in Richibucto, New Brunswick. The role focuses on overseeing pharmacy operations during assigned shifts, delivering consultations to customers and healthcare professionals, dispensing medications accurately, and supporting day-to-day dispensary upkeep in a community retail setting.
You will be part of a locally owned store that combines community-based service with the support of a national retail brand. The pharmacy places the customer at the centre of care while also maintaining professional standards, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflow.
Key responsibilities
- Lead pharmacy operations while on duty, with attention to service quality, safety, and compliance.
- Greet customers promptly and ensure they are acknowledged when approaching the pharmacy.
- Work in line with all applicable federal, provincial, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Protect patient privacy, including confidentiality and consent-related obligations.
- Provide guidance on prescriptions as well as over-the-counter and behind-the-counter products.
- Use the full extent of your professional scope where permitted and within your competence.
- Remain clearly identifiable to the public as the pharmacist on duty.
- Verify the accuracy and suitability of all medications dispensed.
- Communicate with other healthcare professionals as part of the circle of care.
- Maintain the records required under legislation, professional standards, and internal policies.
- Manage dispensary access to protect inventory and patient information.
- Review workflow queues each day and keep the process moving efficiently.
- Check will-call bins regularly according to standard operating procedures.
- Inspect inventory for expired products and monitor stock levels.
- Track medication orders from wholesalers and oversee replenishment needs.
- Ensure documentation and reporting requirements for controlled substances are fully met.
- Submit required reports to Health Canada and other regulatory authorities when necessary.
- Keep pickup, counselling, waiting, and work areas organized and professional in appearance.
- Take part in financial reporting tasks as needed.
- Review in-store communications and act on them appropriately.
- Complete incident reports when customer or staff medication/privacy events occur.
- Plan, coordinate, assign, and coach pharmacy colleagues as required.
- Support business growth by leading by example and contributing to enterprise programs.
- Follow all health and safety processes to help maintain a safe workplace.
- Complete mandatory learning and optional continuing education when required.
Experience and qualifications
- Ability to make sound independent decisions when handling issues or problems.
- Strong capability to coordinate work, delegate tasks, and guide team members.
- Proven commitment to excellent customer service.
- Professional approach with strong customer relationship skills.
- Good problem-solving ability, including creating and carrying out action plans.
- Comfort using computers; experience with pharmacy software is an advantage.
- Ability to work within a regulated healthcare environment.
- Willingness to follow health, safety, and compliance requirements consistently.

Compensation
The starting pay for this newly created role is listed at $45.90 to $59.40 per hour. Final pay may depend on the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and the geographic region of the position.
