Role Overview

This position is for a project planner supporting a Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination project in Fujairah, UAE. The main focus is to build, track, and control the project timetable so that work across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning stays on course and meets contractual commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and manage detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
  • Set up the baseline programme, key milestones, and critical path activities.
  • Keep the schedule current by regularly recording project progress.
  • Work with engineering, procurement, and site teams to gather accurate planning inputs.
  • Review schedule deviations, pinpoint delays, and suggest corrective actions.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress updates, dashboards, and forecasting outputs.
  • Track procurement, material arrivals, and construction progress against the approved schedule.
  • Assist with resource planning and allocation to support delivery targets.
  • Carry out risk reviews and what-if scenarios to improve schedule performance.
  • Take part in project review meetings and provide planning-related guidance.
  • Assess contractor schedules to confirm they align with the overall master programme.
  • Support claims work, extension of time analysis, and delay evaluations.
  • Follow project controls procedures and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Civil, Mechanical, or a similar discipline.
  • 6 to 10 years of professional experience in planning and scheduling.
  • Background in major industrial, infrastructure, or SWRO/desalination projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6, which is mandatory, along with MS Project.
  • Understanding of project controls, scheduling methods, and cost integration concepts.
  • Familiarity with EPC project phases and construction delivery practices.
  • Previous experience in the Middle East, ideally in the UAE.
  • Strong analytical ability, report writing skills, and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Knowledge of risk management and delay analysis methods.
  • PMP or Primavera P6 certification is an advantage.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
