Position overview
The Project Inspection Coordinator supports the end-to-end planning, coordination, and oversight of inspection and testing work for suppliers and subcontractors throughout an EPCIO project lifecycle covering Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Operations. The role ensures that inspections follow approved Inspection & Test Plans, contractual obligations, and the relevant codes and standards. Acting as the main link between engineering, procurement, project quality, supplier quality, and third-party inspection teams, this position helps keep inspections on schedule, compliant, and fully traceable within the project quality framework.
Core responsibilities
- Build and maintain the project inspection plan in line with procurement milestones and fabrication schedules.
- Organize inspection activities for suppliers across procurement and subcontract scopes.
- Arrange inspections using supplier notifications and approved project inspection and test plans.
- Coordinate shop inspections, FATs, and final inspections at supplier sites.
- Work closely with the Project Quality Manager, Supplier Quality Manager, Supply Chain team, and Package Managers/Engineers to confirm inspection readiness.
- Follow up on inspection reports and related supporting documents.
- Liaise with third-party inspection agencies and align their work with the project’s inspection strategy.
- Manage inspector allocations, travel arrangements, and inspection calendars.
- Help prevent fabrication or delivery delays by keeping inspection execution timely.
- Support expediting work and supplier progress monitoring through inspection coordination.
- Track inspection progress, including completed, pending, and overdue items.
- Flag risks or slippages early and escalate issues when needed.
- Review, approve, and archive inspection records, reports, and certificates.
- Maintain inspection information in accordance with Project Quality Dossier / Manufacturing Record Book requirements.
- Check that supplier and subcontractor quality documents are complete and traceable.
- Support final documentation compilation and project handover.
- Track inspection-related Non-Conformance Reports and follow up on their status.
- Work with Supplier Quality and QA/QC teams to drive timely closure of NCRs.
- Assist with corrective action verification and re-inspections when required.
- Prepare recurring updates on inspection status, KPIs, and risk areas.
- Monitor inspection performance indicators established by the project.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in inspection planning and execution processes.
Qualifications and requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in inspection coordination.
- Background in coordinating inspections with international suppliers.
- Knowledge of large EPC projects, particularly FPSO projects.
- Strong understanding of scheduling and tracking inspections based on supplier notices and approved Inspection and Test Plans.
- Excellent planning and coordination ability in multi-location, multi-supplier environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Good problem-solving ability and confidence in escalating issues.
- Comfortable working under schedule pressure while handling several priorities at once.
