Role overview
A biopharmaceutical organisation in Cork is looking for a Project Scheduler to manage, track, and improve project schedules using Microsoft Project. This role is responsible for providing standard governance, tools, and support for schedule control, with a strong emphasis on resource loading, demand forecasting, strategic alignment, benefit tracking, risk register review, and project reporting to support successful delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and report on project schedules in Microsoft Project across all project activities and milestones.
- Build detailed project timelines from initiation through completion with the support of scheduling tools.
- Support Project Leaders and Project Managers in planning, monitoring, and following up on project work.
- Allocate personnel, equipment, and materials to tasks using Microsoft Project, based on guidance from the Project Lead or Manager.
- Work with stakeholders across the project to keep communication clear and consistent.
- Handle scheduling change requests throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Prepare and run schedule-compliance reports, Actual vs Planned (S-curve) reports, and headcount reports.
- Help establish and maintain the department’s Technical Agenda project programme.
- Manage the risk register and complete impact analysis as needed.
- Support the Project Governance forum and coordinate Project Status Card updates with Project Leads and Managers.
- Take on additional duties as required, including intern supervision.
Experience and qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree and have around 5 years of experience managing schedules for a portfolio of technical projects. Strong capability with Microsoft Project is essential, and experience with Planview or similar planning tools is beneficial. PMP certification is an advantage. The role is focused on operational projects rather than capital projects, so the ability to assess resource capacity against demand is important.
