Infoya is hiring a business-oriented Senior Data Scientist in Toronto to apply data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI to create actionable insights, strengthen customer experience, improve operational efficiency, and inform strategic decisions across the business. This is a permanent, newly created position with a hybrid schedule that requires two days per week in the office.

The role calls for someone who can connect deep technical capability with commercial judgment and collaborate effectively with business, product, data engineering, and technology stakeholders.

Core responsibilities

  • Build, train, and evaluate predictive and forecasting models, including traditional machine learning methods and time-series techniques for areas such as demand planning, inventory planning, and sales forecasting.
  • Design and operationalize scalable prediction pipelines on Google Cloud Platform, including tools such as BigQuery and Vertex AI, and move solutions from local development into automated cloud production environments.
  • Work with very large datasets, processing billions of rows from many different sources through efficient SQL and Python workflows while maintaining data quality and model stability.
  • Serve as a link between technical teams and business leaders by converting model outputs into practical recommendations and presenting results, test outcomes, and performance insights to senior management.
  • Support and mentor junior data scientists and ML engineers through code reviews, technical direction, and architectural input when solving complex business problems.
  • Stay current with developments in data science and analytics, continuously building new skills and exploring emerging techniques and technologies.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on industry experience in data science, statistical analysis, and machine learning.
  • A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Strong command of classical machine learning approaches such as regression, classification, clustering, and tree-based models, along with solid expertise in forecasting methods like ARIMA, Prophet, and exponential smoothing.
  • Advanced production-level experience with Python, including Pandas, Scikit-Learn, and Statsmodels, as well as highly complex SQL for large-scale data work.
  • Practical, hands-on experience across Google Cloud Platform, especially building, training, and deploying models with Vertex AI, BigQuery, and Google Cloud Storage.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical findings into clear business recommendations for cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred: exposure to deep learning and generative AI, including LLMs and Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines.
  • Preferred: experience using data science in retail use cases such as supply chain forecasting, pricing optimization, and customer lifetime value.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Docker and orchestration tools such as Google Cloud Composer or Apache Airflow for ML pipeline scheduling and execution.
  • Preferred: working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence for tracking and documentation.

Compensation and additional information

The stated salary range is CAD 100,000 to CAD 115,000 per year. Final pay may vary depending on local market conditions, geographic location, and job-related factors such as skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and education or training. Compensation may also include benefits and/or other incentives where applicable.
