Overview

Microsoft is looking for an engineer to join its Azure Data organization, where teams work on analytics and data infrastructure products used to power modern, cloud-based applications. The broader portfolio includes Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI, with a mission focused on building a data platform ready for the AI era.

Inside Microsoft Fabric, the platform group creates and supports the operating system layer and delivers a unified stack for customers to manage their entire data estate. It is designed to provide one experience, one governance model, one business model, and one architecture.

The Data team within Fabric develops telemetry pipelines for internal and external users. This is a high-importance, large-scale service that must meet compliance and data reliability requirements while making use of technologies such as Power BI, Azure Data Explorer, Event Hubs, and Azure Data Factory to keep telemetry flowing smoothly for diagnostics and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Create and support core services, APIs, and SDKs used to generate, route, and consume telemetry data.
• Partner with stakeholders to define and operationalize service data models using Azure and Microsoft-owned technologies.
• Continuously improve the areas of the service you own.
• Own architecture decisions, design, and delivery of features and solutions with strong quality and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management and partner teams to shape, implement, and refine technical solutions.
• Participate in on-call coverage to help maintain service availability and health.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, along with 2+ years of software engineering experience using coding languages such as C#, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, or Python; or equivalent practical experience.
• For preferred consideration, a Master’s degree in computer science or a related technical field with 2+ years of engineering experience in one or more of the listed languages; or a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field with 3+ years of engineering experience in one or more of the listed languages; or equivalent experience.
