This position sits within a major professional services firm in the Middle East, where audit, tax, and advisory are the three core lines of business. Role summary
The Supervisor - External Auditor will support audit engagement teams in the financial services sector, with responsibility for preparing, delivering, reporting, and evaluating audit results for stakeholders and external regulators.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out audit work, including review of clients' financial statements, related disclosures, and other required deliverables.
- Help define engagement objectives and shape an audit approach that aligns with professional requirements.
- Assess the audit workload for clients while accounting for applicable regulations and standards.
- Lead and develop junior team members by assigning tasks effectively and providing day-to-day guidance.
- Prepare audit reports and communicate findings to clients and senior leadership.
- Apply a strong understanding of advanced accounting and auditing principles to client situations.
- Track the team's progress against the engagement plan and adjust the approach when needed.
- Identify risks and design, then communicate, audit procedures to the engagement team.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with client personnel, monitor client satisfaction, and stay in regular contact throughout the year.
- Handle additional responsibilities within the role as assigned by the Performance Manager.
- Exercise the authority delegated to the position.
- Keep knowledge current by staying informed on developments in the specialist area.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
- Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, CA, or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.
- Prior experience with a leading professional services firm is required, ideally within the Big 4 or Big 10 environment.
