Testing Lead

Role Overview

Larsen & Toubro is looking for a Testing Lead to manage end-to-end testing and commissioning for electrical and grid-connected systems in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The role involves coordinating site readiness, energization, vendor interactions, compliance checks, and final handover activities for project execution.

Testing and Commissioning Planning

• Develop, organize, and drive commissioning plans for DC and AC systems, including inverters, transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and SCADA platforms.
• Build commissioning procedures, checklists, and schedules that match project milestones and delivery timelines.

Pre-Commissioning Readiness

• Carry out or supervise readiness checks such as insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, functional, and interlock verification tests.
• Confirm installation quality and close outstanding punch points so systems are safe and ready for energization.

Testing, Energization, and System Compliance

• Direct energization work in coordination with utilities, clients, and original equipment manufacturers.
• Oversee testing of HT/LT panels, transformers, protection relays, breakers, and earthing systems.
• Ensure all commissioning activities follow grid requirements, statutory rules, and safety standards.

Vendor, Client, and Utility Interface

• Work closely with inverter OEMs, transformer vendors, relay suppliers, and SCADA teams throughout the commissioning cycle.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for client representatives and utility officials during commissioning execution.

Safety and Risk Control

• Enforce electrical safety practices, lockout/tagout, permit-to-work processes, and site safety expectations during field activities.
• Lead commissioning risk reviews and ensure emergency response readiness is in place.

Troubleshooting and Technical Closure

• Diagnose and help resolve issues linked to protection systems, communications, synchronization, and performance behavior.
• Support root-cause analysis and track corrective actions through closure.

Documentation and Handover

• Examine and sign off test reports, commissioning certificates, and energization approvals.
• Compile and submit commissioning dossiers, as-built documentation, and O&M manuals.
• Assist with final transfer of the plant or system to operations teams.

Coordination and Reporting

• Monitor commissioning progress and share regular status updates with project management.
• Coordinate with construction, QA/QC, and EHS teams to confirm commissioning prerequisites are completed.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; a diploma holder with strong relevant experience may also be considered.
• 10 to 16 years of experience in testing and commissioning for solar, power, or EPC projects is required.
• Practical exposure to inverter-based power plants and grid interconnection work is essential.
