Accountant

Role overview

Hesperia is seeking a qualified Accountant to support accurate, timely, and compliant financial management and reporting across its funds and projects. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position sits within the core finance team and takes responsibility for project and fund accounting, taxation, compliance, treasury activities, and investor administration.

This opportunity is suited to an accountant who values variety and is interested in building their career within a high-performing property and funds management setting. The role involves close collaboration with project teams, the Investment and Funds Management team, and external advisers to deliver strong financial outcomes across a diverse portfolio.

This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary range of $80,000 to $100,000, depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle for funds and projects, including monthly cost processing, journal postings, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations within required timeframes.
• Draft and review financial reports for investors and financiers, including year-end financial statements, while coordinating with auditors and outside service providers.
• Oversee tax compliance tasks such as Business Activity Statements, income tax workpapers, and investor tax statements, working alongside external tax specialists.
• Handle entity administration, ATO portal activities, banking, and debt facility payments, while supporting capital calls, distributions, and cash flow tracking across funds and projects.
• Compile financial material for Project Control Groups, Investment Committees, and investor updates, ensuring governance decisions and statutory obligations are satisfied.
• Help improve finance operations by refining accounting policies, internal controls, systems, and workflows in partnership with Business Unit and Shared Services teams.

About you

You are a qualified accounting professional with at least 3 years of relevant experience. You are comfortable taking ownership, working in a structured and compliance-focused environment, and producing high-quality outcomes.

You bring a naturally curious approach and are willing to learn how processes work so you can identify ways to improve systems and efficiency. You can adapt to shifting priorities and perform well in a fast-moving, evolving workplace.

You also have strong people skills and can build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation as well as with external stakeholders.

Skills and experience

• A completed degree or tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CA or CPA qualification, or progress toward completion
• Solid knowledge of accounting and taxation matters, ideally within property or funds management
• Strong planning and organisational ability with the capacity to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, practical approach to solving problems
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Awareness of compliance requirements such as ASIC, ATO, and AML/CTF is an advantage
• Experience in funds management, investor services, or property development is desirable
