Role overview
St Joseph's Lifecare in Upper Hutt, Wellington is looking for a part-time Activities Assistant to support residents in a caring, respectful, and engaging environment. This role sits within a care home setting with hospital-level care and offers the chance to contribute positively to residents’ daily lives.

Working arrangement
- Part-time position
- 13 hours per week
- Morning shifts, Monday to Friday
- Location: St Joseph's Lifecare, Upper Hutt, Wellington
What the role involves
The Activities Assistant will help deliver activity programmes tailored to residents’ physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive, and emotional needs. The job includes organising and running activities, outings, events, and community involvement initiatives. A key part of the role is helping create a safe, supportive, and welcoming atmosphere while building strong relationships with residents and their families.
Skills and experience needed
The ideal candidate will bring experience supporting or caring for others, preferably in an aged care setting. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities are important, along with a friendly, positive, and compassionate approach. The role also requires confidence in driving a van and holding a full New Zealand driver licence. A solid understanding of health and safety practices and a commitment to ongoing improvement are also expected.
