About the Firm
Allen & Gledhill LLP is a long-established, award-winning full-service law firm that has been serving leading clients since 1902. As one of Singapore’s largest law firms, it works with prominent local and multinational corporations as well as financial institutions.
Role Overview
This position is for a driven and committed associate to join a specialist team supporting clients across the full life cycle of energy and infrastructure projects. Work will span project development, design, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance, and eventual decommissioning or renewal.
You will advise a varied client portfolio that includes governments, government-linked bodies, multinational enterprises, and industry leaders in sectors such as renewable energy, conventional energy, petrochemicals, gas, water, utilities, transport, and telecommunications.
The role offers exposure to major projects in Singapore as well as pioneering cross-border assignments, with work that requires understanding the commercial, legal, and political context of Southeast Asia. In addition, you will handle general corporate and commercial matters, helping you build breadth as an all-round corporate lawyer.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide clients on the planning, structuring, and execution of energy and infrastructure projects, including both greenfield and brownfield developments.
- Prepare and negotiate contracts tied to electricity generation, transmission and sale, clean energy initiatives, desalination, utilities, and wastewater treatment or disposal work.
- Advise on public-private partnership and infrastructure transactions, and draft related agreements for projects such as power plants, data centres, waste-to-energy facilities, ports, transport infrastructure, petrochemical plants, tankage, terminalling, and logistics arrangements.
- Carry out legal research and analysis on Singapore law and relevant industry practices across multiple sectors.
- Support general corporate and commercial transactions, including sales and purchases of goods, service arrangements, supply and distribution arrangements, hire-purchase matters, and employment-related documentation.
- Work alongside senior lawyers to deliver practical solutions that respond to operational, regulatory, and commercial issues.
Requirements
- Interest in, or prior exposure to, energy, infrastructure, and project development work.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication abilities.
- A collaborative and team-oriented approach.
- Willingness to learn and grow into a well-rounded corporate lawyer.
- Excellent English fluency; knowledge of another Asian language such as Mandarin or Bahasa will be an advantage.
Why Join
- Work with one of Southeast Asia’s leading infrastructure and projects practices on high-impact assignments that help shape the region.
- Gain exposure to notable clients and advanced projects across diverse industries.
- Build a solid legal foundation in a culture that supports learning, development, and career growth.
- Join a team that values strong collaboration and a positive working environment.
