About the role

The Department of Education, Western Australia is building a candidate pool for Cleaner positions at Lakeland Senior High School. These opportunities may be offered as permanent or fixed-term roles, with both full-time and part-time options, for vacancies that may arise across the 2026 school year through to the end of Term 3, 2027. Successful applicants may be appointed at any point when a suitable vacancy opens within this period.

Key duties

The Cleaner will be responsible for carrying out both internal and external cleaning tasks in line with departmental procedures, including the correct and safe handling of chemicals. Work will cover carpets and hard floors, toilets, furniture, fittings, windows, dusting, rubbish removal, drinking troughs, and other routine cleaning duties. The role also includes the precise use of cleaning chemicals for specific tasks.

During school vacation periods, additional cleaning work must be completed. This includes stripping and sealing vinyl floors, shampooing carpets, and pressure cleaning different areas of the site.

Eligibility and checks

To be eligible for employment, you must obtain a valid Working With Children Check. You must also agree to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and secure a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before starting work. Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, or hold a valid visa with the relevant work rights for the full appointment period. Candidates from the earlier recruitment process IPS/SS993654 who were previously assessed as suitable do not need to submit another application.
