Job Overview

QD-SBG Construction is hiring an experienced Contracts / Commercial Manager in Lusail, Qatar. The role focuses on handling the end-to-end contract cycle across several infrastructure projects, with responsibility for contract administration, claims, payments, and commercial planning. The successful candidate will work with project teams, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to keep projects compliant, reduce commercial exposure, and safeguard the company’s interests.

What You Will Do

• Lead contract administration across multiple large project sites and make sure all obligations, deliverables, and terms are fulfilled.
• Prepare, review, and reply to formal contract communications in a way that protects the company’s contractual position.
• Spot commercial and contractual risks early, suggest mitigation measures, and advise teams on how to limit claims and disputes.
• Manage claims, variations, and extension-of-time submissions, ensuring they are properly documented and aligned with contract rights.
• Ensure project activities remain aligned with contractual requirements, local laws, company procedures, and any needed client or authority approvals.
• Support negotiations and resolution of disputes through discussion, mediation, or other formal dispute processes when needed.
• Coordinate closely with internal departments, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to keep commercial matters aligned and relationships productive.
• Provide direction and support to contract administrators and commercial personnel across sites, promoting good practices and continuous improvement.
• Handle Cost-Plus contract administration where applicable, including cost control, payment processes, and transparency for reimbursable works.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• Professional chartership or an equivalent qualification such as MRICS, MCIOB, or CIArb is strongly preferred.
• At least 15 years of experience in contracts and commercial management, preferably on large-scale, multi-site infrastructure projects.
• Practical experience with roads, infrastructure, and drainage projects is required.
• Exposure to Public Works Authority (PWA / Ashghal) projects is a strong advantage.
• Good understanding of Cost-Plus, Lump Sum, and other common construction contract formats.
• Strong grasp of construction laws, industry standards, and best practices in Qatar.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• High attention to detail, sound problem-solving ability, and the capacity to manage several priorities in a busy environment.
• Confident leadership style with a cooperative, practical, and solution-focused approach.

Additional Information

This is a full-time onsite role based in Lusail, Qatar. The position is for a senior professional expected to oversee commercial and contractual matters across multiple projects and guide supporting contract staff. A background in cost-plus contract administration is especially valuable.

Professional Certifications

Chartered membership or equivalent professional certification is highly preferred, including MRICS, MCIOB, or CIArb.
