Controller: Inventory

Role overview

This role reports functionally to the Customer Service Manager and is responsible for overseeing the movement of stock across the warehouse, including receiving, storage, issuing, and other core inventory control tasks. The position also requires maintaining precise stock records and ensuring accountability for every item in storage.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out storekeeping and warehousing duties such as receiving, identifying, handling, storing, and releasing client inventory.
• Enter all stock receipts and stock issues into the relevant physical stock binders for each client immediately after each transaction.
• Work in accordance with approved operating procedures, Good Warehousing Practice, and the service agreements and SOPs established with clients.
• Choose suitable storage areas, arrange stock placement, and organize the warehouse to make the best use of available space.
• Open incoming items, assemble where needed, and verify condition, quantity, and item type against shipping paperwork; attach stock identification tags when required.
• Release warehouse stock to satisfy requisitions as needed.
• Coordinate with the Customer Service Manager and client representatives to set delivery priorities and delivery points through joint planning.
• Partner with the Quality Assurance Pharmacist and Customer Service Manager to update expiry information, identify damaged or expired items, and move such stock to the quarantine area.
• Report damaged, expired, or defective stock to the Customer Service Manager and Quality Assurance Pharmacist, ensuring it is physically separated from usable inventory.
• Perform routine physical stock counts and quickly resolve any stock variances.
• Escalate inventory differences to the Customer Service Manager within 24 hours of identification.
• Provide reliable physical stock records whenever requested.
• Manage warehousing activities in line with client SOPs and SLAs.
• Maintain Good Warehousing Practices at all times.
• Ensure stock safety, correct storage conditions, required temperatures, and proper handling methods are upheld.
• Monitor warehouse security, cleanliness, and general condition, and report issues as required.
• Protect company assets from careless handling and fraudulent activity.
• Oversee operators of material-handling equipment, including forklifts, during receipt, storage, and dispatch activities.
• Promote a strong safety culture aligned with HSEQ policies and guidelines.
• Take part in TQS and HSE meetings and follow through on agreed action items.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should hold a graduate degree or HND in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, or another related discipline. The role calls for 1 to 2 years of post-qualification experience in warehousing, inventory control, storekeeping, or customer service. Experience with warehouse management systems, inventory processes, workflow coordination, and customer service is expected. Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office or similar software, are also required.
