Cyber Security Intern

About the role

This remote cybersecurity internship is being filled for a client and is designed for students, recent graduates, and early-career candidates who want practical exposure to security work. The internship offers the chance to learn directly from experienced security professionals while contributing to live cybersecurity activities.

The selected intern will help with routine security operations, look into possible risks, review emerging threat trends, and support a range of security-focused projects. It is a strong fit for someone who wants to build hands-on experience and develop a solid base in cybersecurity.

Key responsibilities

• Track security alerts and help spot possible threats.
• Assist with vulnerability reviews and basic security testing tasks.
• Study new cybersecurity threats, attack methods, and ways to reduce risk.
• Help prepare security notes, incident summaries, and technical documentation.
• Take part in incident response work under supervision from senior team members.
• Support awareness and compliance-related security efforts.
• Use standard cybersecurity tools and technologies in day-to-day work.
• Coordinate with different teams on security tasks and project support.

Required qualifications

• Applicants should be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a similar discipline.
• Fresh graduates and first-time applicants are welcome.
• Prior exposure to networking, operating systems, or cybersecurity basics will be considered helpful.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability are important.
• Good written and spoken communication skills are needed.
• The candidate should be able to work independently and also contribute well in a team setting.
• Interest in cybersecurity and information security is essential.

Preferred skills

• Fundamentals of networking such as TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux environments.
• Understanding of core security concepts including firewalls, phishing, malware, authentication, and access control.
• Exposure to tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, Burp Suite, or similar products.
• Basic scripting knowledge in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
