Data Engineer (m/f/d)

Role overview

Bees & Bears is looking for a first dedicated Data Engineer to create the data foundation the business needs to grow in a controlled and dependable way. In this role, you will replace scattered data and manual work with a scalable setup that gives the company one trustworthy view of its information.

You will shape and run the infrastructure behind that single source of truth, helping different teams make better decisions using clean, dependable data. The role involves close collaboration with Engineering, Product, Risk, Finance, and leadership to understand data needs and turn them into practical solutions.

What you will do

• Develop and support durable data pipelines that connect the company’s main systems.
• Build the company’s data warehouse from the ground up and own its structure.
• Bring together information from internal platforms, APIs, and external tools.
• Improve the consistency, trustworthiness, and availability of data across the organization.
• Provide teams with well-organized data that supports quicker and stronger decisions.
• Create scalable standards for data ownership, naming, and quality.

What you should bring

• Strong working knowledge of SQL and Python, including advanced querying and automation of data tasks.
• Practical experience delivering data pipelines from start to finish.
• Experience setting up data warehouses and designing data models.
• Ability to work independently and build systems without an existing blueprint.
• Exposure to modern data tools such as dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, or BigQuery is strongly preferred.
• Experience in a startup or fast-growing company is a plus.
• Comfort working with Product, Risk, or Finance stakeholders is preferred.
• Useful extras include BI and dashboarding experience, familiarity with financial or fintech data, data quality/testing/monitoring tools, and awareness of data privacy and security requirements.
