Overview
This role is for a Data Engineer based in Doha, Qatar, with a contract term of 12 months and the possibility of extension. The position reports to the Head of the Statistic Division and focuses on turning large volumes of data into useful insights that can guide decisions.
Core Purpose
The selected professional will collect, process, organize, and analyze datasets to uncover patterns, support research efforts, and contribute to business and statistical decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Work through business or analytical problems and convert them into research questions and study plans.
- Determine which data sources and data types are needed for analysis.
- Collect and compile relevant data for further processing.
- Prepare, clean, and structure data so it can be analyzed effectively.
- Perform statistical and data analysis on large datasets.
- Review results and translate findings into practical insights and conclusions.
Technical Skills and Competencies
The role calls for strong mathematical ability along with hands-on familiarity with SQL, R, Oracle, Python, and related programming tools. Experience with data models, database design and development, segmentation, data mining, and report handling is important. Exposure to databases, business objects, and programming approaches such as XML, ETL, or JavaScript frameworks is also expected.
Beyond technical ability, the candidate should bring creativity, solid report-writing and presentation skills, teamwork, clear written and spoken communication, and relevant industry exposure in data analysis.
Experience and Qualifications
Applicants should have experience in an analytical or statistical field such as statistics, mathematics, or economics. A Data Analytics Professional Certificate is listed as a relevant certification, where applicable.
Language Requirement
Arabic and English proficiency are required.
