Engineering Manager

Role overview

This position is for an experienced SMT and NPI manufacturing professional who can build, improve, and scale surface-mount production lines for new business programs. The role sits at the intersection of PCB manufacturing, process engineering, and new product introduction, with a strong focus on delivering dependable, scalable, and cost-conscious production in a high-volume electronics manufacturing setting.

What you will do

• Plan and commission SMT production lines so they match customer expectations and business needs.
• Work out the required equipment, line layout, throughput, and staffing for fresh line launches and proposals.
• Handle equipment evaluation, capital expenditure approval support, purchasing, and installation follow-through.
• Create process sequences, machine programs, and tooling setups that support efficient production.
• Run pilot builds to confirm process stability and fix issues before full-scale manufacturing begins.
• Lead NPI execution and make sure the handoff from development to production is smooth.
• Partner with supply chain, quality, and production functions to confirm line readiness.
• Support production ramp-up, improve yields, and strengthen overall performance measures.
• Make sure work practices align with design-for-excellence principles, quality requirements, and cost objectives.
• Contribute to early production support and ongoing improvement efforts.

Desired skills and background

The ideal candidate should bring strong working knowledge of SMT assembly and PCB manufacturing, including printing, pick-and-place, reflow, and AOI processes. Hands-on exposure to NPI and production line setup is important, along with familiarity with DFX, process improvement, and lean methods such as 5S and Six Sigma. The role also needs comfort with supply chain and component planning, project coordination, productivity tools, Excel or Google Sheets for KPI tracking and dashboards, MS Office for reporting, and confident leadership with cross-functional communication.
