Role overview

Maudsley Charity is hiring a Grants Programme Officer to join its expanding Programmes team and support the Living Well with Psychosis programme. The role offers the chance to develop or strengthen experience in grant-making, programme delivery, and social impact, while helping ensure funds are allocated fairly, effectively, and with measurable benefit.

Working alongside Programme Leads, you will help manage grant portfolios, support the full funding journey from application to monitoring, and contribute to learning and impact across the organisation.

About Maudsley Charity

Maudsley Charity is a grant-making foundation focused on improving mental health care. It partners with NHS organisations, King’s College London, and community groups to fund practical, evidence-informed solutions.

Its mission is to make sure people living with mental illness can access the care that best meets their needs, with a strong emphasis on equity, lived experience, and reducing disparities in mental health outcomes.

What the job involves

  • Supporting the full grant process, including reviewing applications, carrying out due diligence, and contributing to funding decisions.
  • Managing a portfolio of grants and building positive relationships with funded organisations.
  • Serving as a main contact for applicants and grant recipients.
  • Taking part in assessment panels, helping score bids, and supporting decisions on funding awards.
  • Providing project management and administrative support to Programme Leads.
  • Helping plan delivery timelines, monitor progress, and coordinate programme activity.
  • Assisting with events, workshops, and other engagement activities.
  • Collecting insights, evidence, and learning from funded partners.
  • Supporting monitoring, evaluation, and impact work.
  • Sharing learning internally and helping improve processes over time.
  • Keeping accurate records in the grants management system.
  • Working with colleagues in Finance, Communications, and Fundraising.
  • Helping develop more inclusive grant-making practices and process improvements.

Candidate profile

The charity is looking for someone who is organised, curious, and motivated by social impact. You may already have experience in grant-making, or have gained relevant exposure through funded projects, charity work, or programme delivery.

You should be confident managing work independently, communicating clearly, building relationships, and handling data and systems accurately. An interest in grant-making and funding processes is important, and experience contributing to projects with a social purpose will be valuable.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working across teams, be eager to learn, and be committed to improving mental health outcomes and addressing inequality.

Benefits

  • Hybrid working, usually 2 to 3 days per week in the office.
  • 25 days of annual leave, plus additional service days and Christmas closure.
  • Pension contributions of up to 6%.
  • Enhanced family leave policies.
  • Access to learning and development opportunities.
  • Employee wellbeing support and an EAP.
  • A welcoming, inclusive culture centred on equity and impact.
