Role overview

Speedy Hire is looking for a Hire Desk Controller to join the Leyland depot on a permanent full-time basis. This is a vital operational position where you will be the main contact for customers and will manage the hire journey from the first enquiry right through to delivery and collection.

The role sits within the Trading division at the Leyland site on Aston Way, PR26 7UX. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, for a total of 37.5 hours each week.

As a customer-facing coordinator, you will work closely with stock teams, drivers and engineers to make sure customer needs are met efficiently, equipment is available when needed, and service standards stay consistently high. The role calls for someone who is well organised, flexible, and comfortable communicating with a wide range of people.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the central point of contact for customers throughout the hire process.
  • Coordinate hires from initial enquiry through delivery and collection.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and internal colleagues.
  • Work alongside stock teams, drivers and engineers to meet customer requirements.
  • Help maximise equipment availability and support strong service delivery.
  • Handle a fast-moving workload while staying organised and responsive.
