Role overview
As a Media Assistant, you will support your team in developing standout media ideas for some of New Zealand’s best-known brands. You will gain hands-on exposure to both digital and traditional media through practical learning on the job, OMD’s internal training programme called Accelerate, and industry NGEN sessions.
What a media agency does
The agency plans, strategises, and buys media for major advertisers and well-known brands. The work spans online and offline channels such as television, radio, cinema, press, out-of-home, and digital, often across multiple markets.
Key duties
- Help with the daily management of client accounts and the execution of campaigns.
- Serve as a day-to-day contact for client and media coordination matters.
- Handle administrative tasks such as meeting scheduling, preparing WIPs, and compiling project reports.
- Review booking confirmations and pre-times, monitor campaigns, support post-campaign analysis, and assist with reporting under the direction of the manager.
- Track campaign delivery across all communication channels.
- Support the team with invoicing, reconciliation, and other finance-related administration.
- Contribute ideas for process improvements, campaign optimisation, and other account-related enhancements.
About you
You communicate clearly, both in writing and speaking, and you enjoy working with numbers, clients, and media partners. You do well in busy, fast-moving teams, learn quickly, adapt easily, and work well with others. You are also someone who likes solving problems and is genuinely enthusiastic about media.
What you can expect
You will be joining a growing organisation with a strong reputation, trusted clients, and a supportive team culture. Personal and professional development is a major focus, and the role expects you to spend 10% of your time on training and contributing to the organisation and industry. You will also have access to the tools and resources needed to perform well, work in a bright open-plan office, and be part of a company that supports diversity, charities, and environmental initiatives. Flexible working is actively encouraged and supported.
