Role Overview

The Payment Posting Specialist will manage the monetary intake process for Ventra Health clients. This role may support 13 to 14 facilities or clients and is expected to help maintain a 6-day turnaround time. It is also responsible for ensuring current-month deposits are posted by month-end deadlines. The position requires adherence to applicable billing regulations and a collaborative, service-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Record accounts payable deposits accurately and on time.
• Handle electronic 835 files and manual payer EOBs, including insurance allowables, patient responsibility amounts, denials, adjustments, contractual allowances, recoupments, and forward balancing.
• Read EOB remittance codes and assign the correct denial codes where needed.
• Complete payment batch balancing and closure within required timelines.
• Use payer websites and related portals to retrieve EOB documentation.
• Support special assignments and additional tasks as required.

Experience and Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience posting insurance payments in a healthcare environment. Experience reading insurance EOB statements for at least 2 years is preferred.

• Working knowledge of insurance payer categories and claim processing basics.
• Ability to understand Explanation of Benefits documents and remittance terminology.
• Strong reconciliation and balancing capability.
• Proficiency with 10-key calculator use.
• Clear verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Solid numerical and mathematical ability.
• Strong organization and time management.
• Ability to interpret and apply state and federal rules, regulations, and policies.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving, team-based environment.
• Professional and tactful communication with different personality types.

Compensation and Rewards

This position is eligible for a performance-based incentive plan as part of the company’s rewards and recognition program. It may also qualify for a discretionary bonus in line with company policy. Base compensation is determined by factors such as location, experience, qualifications, skill set, and other job-related considerations.
