Role Overview
This contract role is for a Production Support Engineer based in Toronto, Ontario, with an onsite expectation of four days per week. The position supports a group of client technology and global investment banking applications, including Salesforce, Dealogic, Capital IQ, and similar platforms. The focus is on keeping production systems stable, improving automation, and supporting efficient release execution.
Compensation and Interview Format
The engagement offers an hourly pay rate of CAD 50 to CAD 55 per hour, inclusive. The interview process is face-to-face and conducted onsite only.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver L2 and L3 production support for front-office teams using global application platforms.
- Handle incident, problem, and change management activities in line with ITIL practices.
- Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to coordinate releases, defect corrections, and product enhancements.
- Strengthen application reliability by using monitoring solutions and automation approaches tied to DevOps and CI/CD.
- Support capacity planning activities and coordinate disaster recovery readiness.
- Prepare and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge resources.
- Collaborate closely with business, technology, and compliance partners.
- Take part in on-call duties and weekend release rotations.
Experience Needed
Candidates should have 7 to 12 years of experience in application or production support. Background in capital markets or investment banking technology platforms is strongly preferred.
Skills and Technical Exposure
Applicants should bring strong hands-on ability in enterprise application support, scripting or automation with Python or a comparable language, Linux and Windows environments, SQL, and ITIL-based support processes. A strong focus on system stability, proactive monitoring, and root cause analysis is important. Helpful experience includes tools such as Geneos, AppDynamics, or Dynatrace; scheduling tools like Control-M or Autosys; DevOps tooling such as Jenkins, GitHub, or Ansible; and exposure to AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Salesforce, or capital markets platforms.
