Role overview

This is a QA testing role for a partner organization that handles the application process and all subsequent hiring steps. The position is based in Canada and focuses on quality assurance for complex utility-industry implementation programs, with particular emphasis on Oracle Utilities platforms. You will help ensure enterprise systems are reliable, accurate, and ready for release by partnering with clients, business analysts, and technical teams.

The work is well suited to a detail-oriented QA professional who enjoys structured delivery environments, end-to-end testing, and hands-on involvement in release readiness, user acceptance testing, and defect resolution.

Core responsibilities

Create, run, and maintain detailed manual test cases and test scripts using functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria as the starting point.
Contribute to test strategy, test planning, and QA roadmap development alongside test leads.
Carry out unit, integration, system, and regression testing to confirm stability and correct application behavior.
Review Oracle Utilities solutions, including CC&B and/or MDM, to verify they meet technical and business expectations.
Take part in user acceptance testing, production cutovers, and release validation activities.
Log, follow, and help resolve defects while keeping stakeholders informed about risks and issues.
Work across multiple teams in a matrixed setting to support timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
Follow project timelines, delivery methods, and quality standards while contributing to process improvement.

Requirements

At least 5 years of hands-on manual QA experience in software or systems implementation environments.
Minimum 2 years of direct testing experience with Oracle Utilities CC&B and/or Meter Data Management (MDM) in the utility sector.
Strong knowledge of QA practices, test design, defect tracking, and disciplined testing workflows.
Proven ability to turn business needs into clear, reusable test cases.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing and cross-functional collaboration.
Experience with Agile or other structured implementation approaches is a strong advantage.
Exposure to automation tools, performance testing, or broader QA tooling is beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
