Security Guard

Role overview

Canadian Security Management, working in collaboration with Pasqua First Nation, is recruiting both part-time and full-time Security Guards in Regina, Saskatchewan. The role is for a mine site located outside Bethune, where the main objective is to safeguard the client and assigned premises against trespassing and unlawful activity.

Work schedule and conditions

• The roster follows a 7-days-on / 7-days-off pattern.
• Shifts are 12 hours long.
• A uniform will be provided.
• The starting pay is $18.00 per hour.
• After a 3-month probation period, the employee may become eligible for a raise and benefits package, subject to acceptance into a permanent position.
• A travel allowance is included.

Key responsibilities

The guard will carry out patrols, monitor surveillance systems, manage site access, and respond to suspicious or unlawful behaviour. The position also includes supporting site operations through basic customer-facing tasks and reporting incidents to the appropriate authorities when required.

Surveillance and site protection

• Patrol assigned buildings and grounds on a routine basis.
• Watch security cameras and keep an eye on crowds when needed.
• Check that doors, windows, and gates remain secured on a rotating schedule.
• Confirm identification requirements for entry to the site or building.
• Remove released employees and any trespassers from the property when necessary.

Incident response and investigation

• Act promptly when alerts or suspicious activity are reported.
• Secure the area and any involved person if criminal activity is suspected.
• Escalate incidents to local authorities as appropriate.
• Handle additional related duties assigned by management.

Customer service and access control

• Issue access cards to people entering the site.
• Help with new worker orientation.
• Carry out D/A testing as part of site support duties.

Candidate profile

The employer is looking for someone with strong written and spoken communication skills, good computer ability in tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel, sharp observation, and prior surveillance experience ideally gained in a law enforcement setting. The right person should stay composed under pressure, be patient, and pay close attention to detail.

Qualifications and requirements

• High school diploma or an equivalent credential is mandatory.
• Completion of the 40-hour security guard training certification and possession of a Saskatchewan Security Guard Licence are required.
• The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
• A valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver’s licence is necessary.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification is required.
• WHMIS certification is required.
• CSA-approved steel-toe work boots are needed.
• Reliable transportation to and from work is required.
