Senior Program Manager, Program Leadership and Management

Role Overview

Deciphera Pharmaceuticals is hiring a Senior Program Manager to support Program Leadership and Management for its Development and Commercial Program Teams in Waltham, Massachusetts. This position works closely with the Program Lead to shape strategy, coordinate program execution, and help deliver results across early-stage through late-stage clinical development as well as lifecycle management programs.

The role sits at the center of a highly cross-functional environment and may include coordination with both internal teams and outside partners. The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of drug development, stay effective in ambiguous situations, and communicate clearly across teams and levels of the organization.

As part of the leadership structure, the Senior Program Manager will oversee day-to-day program management work, support the Integrated Development Strategy, and maintain awareness of overall program direction, key milestones, critical path items, risks, and mitigation approaches.

Core Responsibilities

• Act as a strategic partner to the Program Lead and help shape and deliver the Integrated Development Strategy.
• Work with the Program Lead to build and execute integrated development plans while guiding Program Teams effectively.
• Give clear direction on product development needs so expectations from external customers and internal business stakeholders are met.
• Track program milestones and KPIs, flagging gaps, risks, and opportunities, and recommending strategic actions.
• Help maintain and continuously reassess the development strategy so it stays aligned with the broader company strategy.
• Support strong, well-run program teams by keeping team operations effective and consistent.
• Lead program meetings in a way that keeps discussion focused, efficient, and productive.
• Communicate strategy, updates, and progress to relevant stakeholders in a timely and clear manner.
• Coordinate the work of sub-teams so all parts of the Program Team stay aligned and connected.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus at least 8 years of experience in R&D and/or drug development project management.
• Strong planning, organization, and communication abilities.
• Working knowledge of the drug development process.
• Familiarity with project management software and tools.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and handle team dynamics effectively.

Preferred Experience

• Background supporting a clinical trial.
• Experience developing treatments for oncology, neurology, and/or rare disease indications.

Compensation and Benefits

Deciphera follows fair and equitable pay practices. The base salary range for this position is USD 143,000 to 197,000 per year. Final compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education, skills, performance, and location.

The total rewards package may include an annual performance bonus, a long-term incentive plan, a broad benefits package, and other incentive compensation plans where applicable.
