Role overview

This position sits within the Food and Beverage & Culinary area at The Pearl Island in Doha, Qatar. It is a full-time, non-management role focused on leading stewarding activities, maintaining cleanliness across kitchen and banquet operations, and supporting the wider culinary team to keep service running smoothly.

Key duties

The supervisor will direct and support stewards to improve the efficiency of cleaning tasks. The role includes monitoring water temperature and chemical levels for cleaning and making sure they are recorded properly, assisting with banquet plate-ups, helping cooks and kitchen colleagues with day-to-day tasks, supplying needed items to cooks, and supporting banquet and buffet operations by moving stock and ensuring supplies are sufficient. Cleaned items must be returned to their proper storage areas. The job also involves operating and maintaining cleaning tools and equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand-wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors.

Leadership and workplace expectations

The position also requires supporting management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating employees. The employee must follow company policies along with safety and security procedures, report incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions, and complete required safety training and certifications. Professional grooming, confidentiality, protection of company property, courteous guest interaction, clear communication, teamwork, and consistent quality standards are all essential parts of the role.

Physical requirements

The work involves regular physical activity, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects up to 50 pounds without help. The role may require standing, sitting, or walking for long periods, as well as reaching above shoulder level and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, and moving on sloped, uneven, or slippery surfaces. Other reasonable duties may be assigned by supervisors as needed.

Preferred qualifications

A high school diploma or GED-equivalent is preferred. Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant work experience and at least 1 year of supervisory experience. No license or certification is required.
