Role overview
The Accountant will handle day-to-day financial processing, accounting postings, and ledger upkeep, while also contributing to monthly and yearly reporting. This role is focused on preserving the accuracy of financial records, following accounting standards and regulatory rules, and ensuring accounting tasks are completed on time to support the organization’s financial management goals.
Core responsibilities
- Draft and post routine and month-end journal entries in line with established accounting policies.
- Keep general ledger accounts up to date and reconcile them to confirm accuracy and completeness.
- Support period-end work by preparing adjustment, accrual, and closing entries.
- Track balances, investigate variances, and take corrective action where needed.
- Handle supplier invoices, payment requests, and employee expense reimbursements.
- Check backing documents, confirm correctness, and ensure policy compliance.
- Prepare payment vouchers, monitor pending items, and help close payments on time.
- Assist with invoicing, revenue recognition, and receivable follow-ups when required.
- Manage UAE VAT filing procedures.
- Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting packs.
- Help prepare management reports, expense summaries, and variance analysis.
- Assemble financial information for audits, reviews, and internal checks.
- Work with different departments to collect information needed for reporting.
- Support fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
- Maintain asset registers and assist with periodic physical verification.
- Carry out bank reconciliations and other assigned reconciliations.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for review.
- Follow AMF accounting procedures, internal regulations, and control requirements.
- Spot opportunities to improve processes and recommend efficiency enhancements.
- Keep records organized and ensure financial documents are filed promptly.
- Assist audit activities by preparing schedules and responding to questions.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting, general ledger operations, or financial reporting.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and period-end close activities.
- Hands-on exposure to SAP ERP systems.
- Experience in financial institutions or international organizations will be considered an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Professional qualifications such as CMA, CPA, or ACCA, whether completed or underway, are preferred.
- Ability to work in both English and Arabic.
