AI Engineer (m/f/d)

Your mission

Smartbroker AG is expanding its Data, AI & MarketingTech division and is hiring multiple AI Engineers. The new data team is being set up to focus on developing GenAI use cases for customer-facing product features and for improving the efficiency of internal workflows, along with other data-driven initiatives.

In this role, you will sit at the center of the company’s AI transformation, helping shape how generative AI is used across business, data, and technology. Your work will drive innovation and broader adoption of AI and data capabilities throughout the organization, with use cases designed to create clear business impact through modern AI technologies.

What you will do

• Create and refine AI solutions for internal workflows and customer-facing product capabilities using current GenAI approaches based on LLMs and RAG.
• Develop and support the technical AI and machine learning stack needed to run AI-powered services in the cloud.
• Work closely with product engineering teams to deliver AI and data features.
• Build efficient end-to-end data and AI pipelines that turn consumer needs into usable data and AI products.
• Take responsibility for the technical execution, core components, operation, and upkeep of your team’s solutions.
• Support other technical teams as an advisor on the use of GenAI models, tools, and agents.

What we are looking for

• A university degree in a technical discipline such as computer science, business informatics, natural sciences, or a comparable field.
• Strong expertise in modern AI use cases, agent-based applications, and established best practices.
• Advanced knowledge of machine learning, generative AI, LLMs, RAG, AI agents, and related tools such as OpenAI, LangChain, and Langfuse.
• Very good programming ability in Python and SQL; Java is an advantage.
• In-depth understanding of contemporary cloud-based AI platforms, especially GCP and AWS.
• Solid knowledge of software engineering practices, including requirements definition, version control, CI/CD, testing, deployment, and monitoring of data pipelines and services.
• Awareness of data and AI security, data regulation, and privacy requirements.
• A proactive, solution-focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
• Strong communication and presentation skills in English; German is an advantage.
• Interest in finance and fintech, plus a sense of humor.
