Role Overview
The Apprentice Fitter will support the plant’s planned maintenance activities while helping production run continuously on a 24/7 basis. This position involves working as part of a team alongside Production and Engineering colleagues, while also being capable of carrying out tasks independently when required.
The role holder is expected to manage their workload with the Lead Fitter and ensure shift requirements and plant projects are completed on time. All work must be performed in line with the site’s health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all site health and safety procedures without exception.
- Build knowledge of the manufacturing process and how the plant operates.
- Work toward full qualification in Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitting.
- Support the preventative maintenance programme across the plant.
- Assist with fault repairs and project-related work.
- Strengthen troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving abilities.
- Develop effective teamwork and collaboration with other departments and functions.
Candidate Profile
The company is looking for someone who has completed Phase 2 of the Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitting Apprenticeship and has some prior experience in the area. The ideal person should show a genuine interest in engineering, be comfortable working with others, and have strong interpersonal skills. A self-motivated approach is important, along with practical familiarity with computer systems, databases, and Microsoft Office.
Work Location
This is a fully on-site position based at the Waterford plant in County Waterford, Ireland.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly gross pay for this role is EUR 15.90. The position is also eligible for Ball’s annual incentive compensation programme.
