Role Overview

GAUI is hiring an Art Director to lead visual storytelling with a refined eye, strong cultural awareness, and full accountability for creative output from the earliest idea stage through final delivery. This position is centered on social media, with the brand’s primary presence on Instagram and TikTok, so a deep understanding of what feels current, engaging, and brand-building on those platforms is essential.

The ideal candidate understands that strong creative results depend not only on what happens during the shoot, but also on the planning that happens before and the discipline that follows after. Success in this role calls for a mix of creativity, structure, preparation, leadership, and follow-through.

You will partner closely with the Head of Marketing and Brand Director while retaining substantial ownership over creative direction and execution.

Pre-Production Work

A large part of this role happens before campaigns go live. This stage is highly detailed and strategic, and it sets the standard for everything that follows. The right person is able to balance the immediate production at hand with the long-term direction of the brand.

  • Develop shot lists, mood boards, creative presentations, and production plans for campaigns and content.
  • Help define concepts, narratives, and creative direction for upcoming launches and initiatives.
  • Source and coordinate the right photographer, stylist, hair and makeup artist, talent, and other creative partners for each project.
  • Provide clear, detailed briefs so collaborators fully understand the vision before arriving on set.
  • Handle casting, location selection, approvals, budgets, timelines, and production coordination.
  • Track work in progress while keeping an eye on future campaigns, brand growth, and creative opportunities.
  • Anticipate obstacles early and build solutions before they interfere with execution.

On-Set Direction

Shoot days move quickly, and this role requires confident leadership, sharp communication, and strong attention to detail.

  • Guide talent movement, positioning, energy, and performance throughout the shoot.
  • Make sure styling, hair, makeup, props, and other creative details translate properly on camera.
  • Work closely with photographers and creative partners to keep the production aligned with the original vision.
  • Review imagery in real time and make decisive creative calls as the day progresses.
  • Keep the shot list on track while staying flexible when unexpected opportunities or issues arise.
  • Balance creative quality with production realities.

Post-Production Ownership

The responsibility does not end once the shoot is complete. This phase is where the final standard is set and protected.

  • Review and curate imagery with a strong editorial sensibility.
  • Give retouchers detailed, thoughtful, and precise direction.
  • Evaluate retouching rounds and maintain quality throughout the process.
  • Organize, prepare, and deliver final creative assets.
  • Adapt visuals for website, email, social, paid media, and other brand placements.
  • Ensure each asset follows brand standards and performs appropriately across channels.

Brand Identity and Creative Leadership

In addition to leading productions, this role helps define and sustain the broader visual language of the brand.

  • Set and preserve Gaui’s visual identity across photography, styling direction, typography, color, and overall creative consistency.
  • Create seasonal concepts, visual frameworks, and narratives that support the wider team.
  • Lead campaigns from idea development through final handoff with end-to-end ownership.
  • Maintain consistency across all customer-facing creative work.
  • Stay current on fashion, culture, art, and the evolving visual language of social media.
  • Bring fresh references, ideas, and creative perspectives into the brand.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Marketing and Brand Director on brand initiatives and long-term creative direction.

Candidate Profile

The right fit is someone who cares deeply about creating work of a high standard and takes pride in the details. They understand that brand strength is built through consistency and that every stage of the creative process matters. They approach a creative deck, casting choice, retouching review, and campaign launch with the same level of care.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience as a creative professional, supported by a portfolio that shows a clear and cohesive point of view.
  • Background as an art director or creative director in fashion, women’s lifestyle, beauty, or another highly visual, socially driven brand.
  • Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, and current visual culture.
  • Hands-on experience leading creative productions from pre-production through post-production.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with Figma, video editing, or motion design is a plus.
  • Strong organizational ability and close attention to detail.
  • Comfort managing several projects at once without losing quality.
  • Ability to give and receive direct, honest creative feedback.
  • Strong ownership, reliability, and accountability.

About GAUI

GAUI is a women’s fashion label focused on lifestyle-driven essentials and wardrobe staples. The brand began in 2018 as MY OUTFIT ONLINE and rebranded in January 2026 under a more refined identity.

The company is a compact team of about 16 to 20 people, operating with intention, care, and a long-term perspective. High standards, ownership, and attention to detail are expected from everyone on the team. GAUI also believes the best work comes from people who genuinely connect with what they are helping build.

People who thrive here usually have a natural appreciation for visual cohesion, culture, and the lifestyle the brand represents. While different perspectives are welcome, there must be a shared understanding of the audience and the world the brand is creating.
