Role overview
This position is based at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara in Doha, Qatar. The role sits within Minor Hotels, a global hospitality group with more than 530 properties across over 50 countries in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Europe, and South America, operating brands such as Anantara, Avani, Elewana, Oaks, NH Hotels, NH Collection, nhow and TIVOLI.
As the Assistant Concierge Manager, you will help deliver the brand service promise to guests by applying the hotel’s service standards with a positive attitude and a warm approach. The role is focused on creating seamless, memorable guest experiences and handling requests that may be unusual or complex.
Key duties
- Take ownership of the day-to-day running of the concierge department.
- Guide, coach and direct concierge agents in their daily work.
- Review and amend team schedules according to projected business levels.
- Offer feedback and identify opportunities for coaching and development.
- Support training activities and step in as a trainer when needed.
- Make sure the team remains well informed about hotel facilities, current promotions, local happenings and city updates.
- Represent the hotel professionally while helping guests with a wide range of requests, including those that require creative problem-solving.
- Build and maintain a dependable network of service partners to meet guest needs efficiently.
- Ensure printed guest information such as brochures, maps and attraction materials are available.
- Arrange guest requests connected to dining, entertainment, recreation, tours, transport, florists, medical services, child care and other external services not offered by the hotel.
- Handle guest questions in a positive and helpful manner.
- Track all concierge endorsements through to completion.
- Ensure luggage, messages, parcels and similar items are received, delivered, stored and retrieved properly.
- Act with transparency in financial matters and maintain trust within the team.
- Follow financial controls and manage costs responsibly.
- Oversee daily records and documentation, including receipt filing and related bill records.
- Ensure all concierge activities are conducted in the company’s best interest.
- Monitor correct and responsible use of hotel systems and equipment.
- Support a safe workplace and follow all safety requirements.
- Help maintain a service-focused and results-oriented team culture.
- Comply with departmental SOPs and all safety policies.
- Promote hotel services, facilities, offers and operating hours to guests.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
This role calls for a guest-service mindset, strong communication and leadership abilities, and the confidence to work under pressure while staying organized and adaptable. The ideal candidate should be a reliable team player with solid problem-solving skills, good computer knowledge, and fluency in English. A second language is preferred. Membership in Les Clefs D’Or is required, along with at least 1 year of proven supervisory experience or an equivalent role in a customer service environment.
Tools and working style
You should be comfortable handling multiple guest requests at once, working collaboratively with colleagues, and maintaining composure and courtesy while focusing on guest needs.
